People in Restaurants

I'm fascinated by themes and photographic essays on themes, no matter how silly or banal — this one being people eating and serving in restaurants, which is anything but banal because people are at their most expressive while eating. For this theme, I started out using Point & Shoots: first a Canon PowerShot SD 870, next a Pentax Optio M30. Then, I purchased a Panasonic G1 — used in the later images, and finally the tiny μ43 Olympus E-PL1. I now have the latest iteration, the E-PL5.

It's not so much the camera, but the moment. Nevertheless, as long as autofocus is good, a small camera beats a large one when shooting people or capturing candid images in an intimate setting.
